Preparing for your Travel Medicine Consultation
Before you arrive at our Travel Medicine Clinic
- Complete and return the Intake Form
- Bring a list of all medications you are taking.
- Contact your Insurer to ask if you have any coverage for your recommended vaccinations.
- Check for any travel advisories or alerts issued by your country’s government or international organizations for your intended destination. These advisories provide important information regarding safety, security, health risks, and any ongoing emergencies or conflicts in the region.
- Book you travel consultation in order to determine which vaccines are recommended or required for your destination. Certain countries may have mandatory vaccination requirements such as the yellow fever or meningitis vaccination.
- Ensure you have adequate travel health insurance coverage for the duration of your trip (medical coverage, emergency evacuation, repatriation, and trip cancellation/interruption coverage. Review the policy details carefully to understand the scope of coverage and any exclusions.
Preparing to Travel
- Ensure you have an ample supply of your prescription medications to last throughout your trip. Check if any of your medications are restricted or prohibited in your destination country.
- Familiarize yourself with general health and safety tips for travellers – practicing good hygiene, drinking safe water, using insect repellants etc.
- Pack a first aid kit with essentials like bandages, pain relievers, anti-diarrheal mediations.
- Ensure you have and bring your necessary travel documents, such as a valid passport or visa. Make copies of these documents. Share your itinerary with a family member or friend.
