General Information

Albany Clinic - Diagnostic ImagingDiagnostic Imaging | Albany Medical ClinicWe provide general x-rays, a broad range of ultrasound tests, mammograms, bone mineral density, pulmonary function testing as well as a full range of cardiac testing including Echocardiograms, ECG’s, Holters, and Blood Pressure Monitors.

The Albany Diagnostic Imaging Department is open to all patients who have a referral from a healthcare provider.

Note: Referrals are not required for women over 40 years of age wanting a mammogram under the Ontario Breast Screening Program.

Appointments are required with the exception of Xray and ECG testing which operate on a walk-in basis.

Appointments will generally be booked within two weeks – but our waiting time is generally less than one week for most tests.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to check in.  If you are late, you may be asked to re-book for another day.  If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so that we can book someone else into your appointment slot.  If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you may be charged a cancellation fee.  See information on Uninsured Services.

Test Preparation – Please refer to the information page for each test to see what, if any, preparations you must complete prior to the test.

For safety reasons, we do not allow you to bring anyone in the room during your exam. Exceptions may be made for a patient with physical or cognitive challenges that requires assistance, or in some cases, where an interpreter is required.

Bringing Children to your Appointment – Because our staff need to focus on other patients, they are not able to supervise children in the waiting room. Please arrange to leave children requiring supervision at home or to bring another adult to watch them in the waiting room.

If you wish to have a chaperone during your test, please inform Reception when you check in for your appointment. Please be advised, family and friends are not permitted to act as chaperones.

Our Technologist cannot discuss any findings with you as you are being tested.  While our technologists work to ensure the best picture, and best representation of your anatomy and pathology, our Radiologists read and report on the images most often the same day of your examination, and the report is sent to your referring physician within the next two days.

We do NOT tolerate abusive language or behaviour to our Reception staff, Technologists or other patients in our waiting area.  You will be asked to find another Diagnostic Imaging location if you cannot treat Reception staff and our Technologists with respect.
