Yes, you must have a requisition from your doctor. The only exception – women over 40 wanting a mammogram under the Ontario Breast Screening Program.

No. Any requisition signed by a physician within Ontario will be accepted.

Yes, with the exception of Xray and ECG (which is done on a walk-in basis). For walk-in X-Ray and ECG patients, there may be a wait time of 10-15 minutes depending on the time of day.

No, we take pride in our short waiting times. Our waiting time is generally less than two weeks for most tests.

Call us and give at least 24 hours notice for a cancellation otherwise you may be charged a cancellation fee.

We will make every effort to accommodate you. If the Technologist feels that he/she is able to complete the test in the remaining time for your appointment, your test will be done. If that is not possible, we will make every effort to give you the next earliest appointment.

No, if you have a valid Canadian health card. Make sure you bring your health card for your test. If you do not have a valid card, you will be charged for the cost of the study. Note: Patients with Quebec Health Cards will need to make payment but will be issued receipt.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment so that we can properly have you registered.

When you book your appointment, our Receptionist will instruct you on how to prepare for the tests that your doctor has requested.

The waiting area for Diagnostic Imaging holds patients for all areas of service within the Department (Xray, Ultrasound, Bone Density, Mammogram, Echocardiogram, Holter Monitoring, ECG’s and Blood Pressure Monitoring). Some of these patients have scheduled appointments in one of these areas and are being taken in at their scheduled appointment time.

For safety reasons, we do not allow you to bring anyone in the room during your exam. Exceptions may be made for a patient with physical or cognitive challenges that requires assistance, or in some cases, where an interpreter is required. Because our staff need to focus on other patients they are not able to supervise children in the waiting room. Please arrange to leave the children at home or to bring another adult to watch them in the waiting room.

For x-rays – to protect parents from exposure to radiation it is best if the parent does not go into the exam room. If your child wants a parent present, or needs help remaining still for the x-ray, you will be given a lead apron so you can assist. If you are pregnant, however, you will not be allowed to enter the exam room and another adult would need to be available if your child needs assistance during the x-ray.
