Registered Dieticians are the best qualified and most appropriate providers of nutrition counseling and information.
The goal of our dietician, as part of our multi-disciplinary healthcare team, is to provide nutritional counselling to prevent disease and promote good health. Glenda Lee Dube, RD does this by promoting healthy eating habits and suggesting diet modifications. Her services require a referral by an Albany Medical Clinic physician.
The most common reasons for seeing a dietician are to get help and advice for the following:
- Weight management (obesity and low weight).
- Hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).
- Eating disorders.
- Health promotion.
Our dietician will assess your current diet, your risk factors, and your lifestyle, to better understand your needs. She can then make recommendations and design an eating/nutrition plan that suits your needs and helps you deal with your problem. An emphasis is placed on healthy eating habits and lifestyle changes as the cornerstones to reducing risks and preventing/controlling diseases.
Follow up appointments can be scheduled to monitor your progress, answer questions, provide support and to make changes as required.
The dietician will make your physician aware of her recommendations at the time of your visit.
This service is not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), however many insurance plans will cover it. Please check with your insurance provider. The cost to Albany Medical Clinic patients is $40.00 for your first visit and $30.00 for subsequent visits.
