MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, quality medical services in an efficient and caring environment.
Comprehensive service refers to providing as many different types of medical facilities as possible under one roof. The vision of the Albany Medical Clinic has always been to provide a "one-stop" shop for medical attention. Recognizing that we are a family practice (not a hospital), we strive to put the most needed support services into our clinic.
We have many diagnostic tools - x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, bone density, mammography and a full service laboratory all on site. We also have a hearing test lab and a physiotherapy clinic. Finally, we strive to maintain a pool of well qualified referring physicians in our building so that patients can see these specialists here, rather than have to travel all over the city.
Quality medical services refers to several features:
- maintaining highly qualified medical staff,
- maintaining systems and equipment to effectively support those professionals,
- constantly training and refreshing our medical staff to keep them on the forefront of medical knowledge,
- striving to build and grow knowledge of our patients to better treat them, and
- focusing on prevention as well as recovery in treating our clients.
An efficient environment is not just one that is streamlined and quick - although that has benefits for our customers. We also strive to serve our customers efficiently by coordinating for them, all the other components in healthcare - like outside specialists and hospitals. We are the primary care centre for our clients - we take care of non-urgent caseloads that would otherwise end up in the hospital. That's a better use of the health system and of everyone's tax dollars (a non-urgent visit to the emergency department of a hospital costs hundreds of dollars in tax money, whereas a visit for the same thing to the Albany Medical Clinic costs the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) only $40).
A caring environment is one that treats customers with the respect and dignity.
